Message from the Chair of ICoTA European Chapter

Message from the Chair of ICoTA European Chapter

"Although we saw a slight improvement in some areas, 2017 was a very challenging year all round for our industry and ICoTA certainly didn’t escape the influence of that. Regardless, the organization worked very hard throughout the year to ensure ICoTA’s commitment to its members was not only maintained but, also built upon with new initiatives such as the ‘ICoTA Champions Programme’. As a result of the Champions' valued support, ICoTA is now much better placed to build into the future, benefiting not only the ICoTA European Chapter members but, the greater intervention community.

"My focus will be working with the ICoTA committee in identifying new case studies and knowledge transfer opportunities for our Lunch & Learn Programme and, in collaboration with our conference partner SPE, further developing our annual conference which showed a significant upturn on 2016 attendance. I hope this is an indication that things are slowly improving.

"I must say that I am heartened by the exceptional level of support and dialogue we have had, from and with our Operator Champions; I look forward to working more closely with each of them going forward such that we continue the excellent work to date regarding safety, efficiency and value adding aspects of our business.

"A personal thanks goes out to Andrew Patterson who has once again volunteered to preside over the ICoTA Innovation Award process, much appreciated.

"The annual fun events - the ICoTA Golf Tournament and Annual Quiz - will take place later in the year, both highly recommended as ones for the diary, a great networking opportunity for all.

"Going forward I’m under no illusions that 2018 will present its own challenges, but working closely with the committee, operators, service companies and societies alike, ICoTA will continue to deliver on its mission statement of improving communication and promoting the value of well intervention solutions within the oil and gas industry”.
