Clan@Work has been developed in response to a growing need: with cancer touching the lives of so many people, workplaces are increasingly playing a vital role in supporting colleagues through diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and the return to work. The programme provides practical guidance, expert insight, and the confidence needed to have supportive conversations and help build a compassionate workplace culture.

Why It Matters

A cancer diagnosis doesn't only affect the individual, it affects colleagues, managers, and teams who want to offer support but may notalways know how. Clan@Work is designed to close that gap, equipping organisations with the tools to respond with confidence and empathy, whether an employee is personally affected or supporting a family member, friend, or someone they care for.

By taking part in the programme, organisations can:

  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to employee wellbeing
  • Equip managers and colleagues with practical skills for supportive conversations
  • Build a workplace culture that is better prepared to support staff through difficult times
  • Strengthen trust and morale across teams

Getting Involved

Clan currently has spaces available on courses running in September and November, and can also coordinate bespoke courses for organisations that would prefer a tailored session suited to their teams.

As ICoTA's Charity Partner of the Year, Clan continues to provide invaluable support to individuals and families affected by cancer across the north-east, and Clan@Work represents a natural extension of that mission, helping workplaces become part of the support network too.

Organisations interested in finding out more about Clan@Work, or in discussing how the programme could benefit their teams, are encouraged to get in touch with Clan directly. Get in touch at clanatwork@clancancersupport.org or visit our website
