ICoTA Europe Appoints Max Soerensen as Senior Chair for 2026/27

Leading well intervention organisation strengthens Scandinavian leadership with focus on regional growth and next-generation talent.

ICoTA Europe is pleased to announce the appointment of Max Soerensen, of AkerBP, as Senior Chair for 2026/27. Having begun his career as a cementing mechanic before moving into coiled tubing, Max spent over a decade as an international supervisor before transitioning into a company man role and subsequently into engineering, bringing a rare combination of hands-on operational experience and technical insight to the position.

Max has already played an active role in ICoTA serving as Junior Chair and contributing to board-level strategy and ensuring strong alignment between European activities and ICoTA's broader objectives. As Senior Chair, his focus will shift toward leadership, continuity and further strengthening ICoTA Europe's contribution to technical excellence and knowledge sharing across the well intervention industry.

Based in Scandinavia, Max's appointment reflects ICoTA Europe's commitment to strengthening its presence across the region, whilst continuing to drive engagement throughout the UK and wider European market.Central to his vision is ensuring that the next generation of well intervention professionals receives the training, knowledge and networking opportunities needed to build long and successful careers in the industry. Supporting and growing ICoTA's Young Professionals community will be a cornerstone of his tenure.

Max will work in close partnership with newly appointed Junior Chair, Grant Veitch of Interwell, a leadership pairing expected to accelerate innovation and deepen collaboration across both Scandinavian and European markets.

On the future direction of the industry, Max sees data as the defining force shaping well intervention: "The industry is becoming increasingly data-driven, not just in how we collect data, but in how we use it to fundamentally improve operations. The direction is clear: smarter interventions, fewer runs, better decision-making, and lower overall cost. Every job should not only deliver results but also generate insight that improves the next."

On his appointment as Senior Chair, Max commented: "I'm honoured to take on this role and contribute to the continued success of ICoTA. While we are seeing significant changes and challenges across our industry,ICoTA will remain the primary organisation supporting industry growth and leading the way in well intervention innovation."

On his involvement with ICoTA, Max added: "I got involved because I wanted to be part of something bigger than my day-to-day role. The people you meet, the perspectives you gain, and the chance to contribute to something that benefits the wider industry makes it a genuinely valuable experience. It's as much about personal growth as it is about giving back."
