As part of our ongoing series introducing the people behind ICoTA Europe, we sat down with Keith Hogg, Wells Manager, to talk about his role, his career in well intervention, and why he gives up his time to sit on the ICoTA Committee.
Tell us your name, company, and current role outwith ICoTA?
As Wells Manager, Keith plays a key role in supporting the NSTA New Ventures directorate in developing and disseminating industry lessons and best practice across the wells lifecycle. His role provides internal functional support across the Operations directorate teams, supporting tier reviews, Concept Select Review, FDP Consent, technology application, and decommissioning activities, including for CCS. Keith also represents the NSTA across several Wells Taskforce groups and sits as a leadership team member on the UKCS Wells Taskforce, alongside senior representatives from BP and Adura,playing a key role in aligning industry goals with those of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
How did you get into the coiled tubing/well interventionindustry?
For Keith, the appeal has always come down to impact:targeted well interventions remain one of the most effective levers availablefor extending field life and maximising economic recovery from existing assets.
What does your role on the ICoTA Committee involve?
As a committee member, Keith actively participates in meetings, helps shape the direction of the conference programme, and offers informed insight on emerging trends and topics of value to the wider industry.His role is about ensuring ICoTA's events stay relevant, forward-thinking, and aligned with the evolving needs of the well intervention community.
Why did you get involved with ICoTA? What made you decideto give up personal time?
Keith got involved with ICoTA because it offers a valuable platform to support the industry's drive for Maximising Economic Recovery (MER)and to strengthen engagement across the well intervention community. Through his contribution, he helps encourage the sharing of best practice, highlights innovative technologies, and promotes more efficient, lower-risk ways of working.
Being part of the committee also keeps him closely connected with operators, service companies, and technology developers, ensuring the insights he brings back to the NSTA reflect real-world challenges and emerging opportunities. Ultimately, for Keith, it's about helping build a more collaborative, informed, and forward-looking sector.
ICoTA Europe's committee is made up of volunteers from across the well intervention community, giving their time to help shape the industry's biggest conference and support the wider sector's development.
