ICoTA Europe is pleased to announce the appointment of Grant Veitch, as Junior Chair for 2026/27. Grant will support Senior Chair, Max Soerenson to lead the organisation into its next phase of growth. Commenting on his appointment,Grant said:

“I’m honoured to take on the role of Junior Chair and continue supporting an organisation that has played a significant part in my own development within the industry. Having joined ICoTA to learn more about well intervention and build my professional network, I understand first-hand the value that knowledge sharing and industry collaboration can bring.

Over the coming year, I want to help strengthen engagement across both the UK and Scandinavia, continue growing our Young Professionals community, and ensure our events, training and technical content remain relevant to the challenges and opportunities facing our industry. As a volunteer-led organisation, ICoTA’s  success relies on participation from across the sector, and I encourage everyone, regardless of role or experience level, to get involved and help shape the future of well intervention.”

Furthermore, Grant said:

“I would like to reinforce the message that ICoTA is for everyone within the industry, regardless of role or experience level, and that sharing knowledge, case studies and lessons learned is essential to ensuring the industry continues to grow, adapt and succeed.”

Grant’s key focus areas for 2026/27 are:

  • Continue growing the Young Professionals network across both the UK and Scandinavia, with a particular focus on engaging university students, graduates and those in the early stages of their careers within the well intervention industry.

  • Increase awareness of the wide range of disciplines and career opportunities within well intervention, helping young professionals understand the breadth of the industry and how it is evolving, particularly within the UK market as activity shifts towards Plug & Abandonment (P&A).

  • Support greater collaboration between the UK and Scandinavian markets, encouraging the sharing of technical knowledge, lessons learned and operational experiences as both regions face different challenges and opportunities.

  • Promote discussion around emerging technologies and innovation, including how AI and digitalisation can be integrated into intervention operations, tools and systems to improve efficiency and decision-making.

  • Continue to enhance ICoTA Europe'sconferences, Tech Talks, training sessions and networking events by listening to member feedback and ensuring events remain relevant, valuable and accessible to all levels of experience.

  • Further develop initiatives such as the Young Professionals Future of Energy Excellence Awards and industry site visits, whilst exploring additional training opportunities that help both new entrants and experienced personnel broaden their technical understanding.

  • Strengthen engagement between operators and service companies, helping identify industry challenges and encouraging collaboration to develop practical solutions that support the future of well intervention.
