Today we talked to JB Dunaud, Chair of the ICoTA DE&I Committee

JB Dunaud works for Ithaca Energy as a Production Engineer, primarily supporting the Erskine field and managing well services projects on Erskine and Cook.
How did you get into the coiled tubing/well intervention industry?
I started my career as a Production Engineer focused on day-to-day production. Over the years I've taken more project management responsibilities, managing well intervention projects from project definition and review of alternatives (e.g. perforation add / reperforation, chemical treatment (scale / asphaltene dissolution, etc.) to supporting the scopes from a production engineering perspective and eventually completing post-intervention reviews.
What does your role on the ICoTA Committee involve?
I’ve been involved with ICoTA for a few years now and have supported several subcommittees, both as a team member and as Chair. Most recently, I became Chair of the DE&I subcommittee and I'm excited to take this new responsibility. Last year, the DE&I committee organised an event at the Aberdeen Art Gallery, where industry professionals shared their experiences, and where we ran through some case studies. This was really well received and a very different format from other more technical events. I'm now excited for us to start planning another iteration, and hear again about other people’s perspectives and experiences.
Why did you get involved with ICoTA? What made you decideto give up personal time?
I attended an ICoTA conference many years ago and got hooked. I had attended a few conferences before, but this was the first one where I felt that most of the information, presentations and technology I was seeing resonated with my day to day job. I also liked the networking element of it, and catching up with previous colleagues, other industry professionals or potential vendors in the coiled tubing and well intervention space.
What's your favourite thing about the ICoTA community?
For me, it's the technical conference that I prefer. I feel that, in a short period of time, I can get updated on all the latest innovation, catch up with everyone, and leave with loads of new ideas. For example, I presented last year on an intervention on a well, and came back with loads of recommendations on what to do next.
Outside of work, what are you passionate about? Hobbies, interests, hidden talents
Outside of work I enjoy running and going to the gym. I also mentor for a project for TechFest, a STEM charity, and really enjoy this. Finally, I'm not sure I would call this a hidden talent, as there isn't much talent yet, but I’ve recently started adult gymnastics and 'Olympic' diving(read Olympic loosely here), trying to focus on enjoying something just for fun rather than trying to excel at it.
